Each week during the 2016-2017 Georgia History Festival, GHS will shine a light on one participating Super Museum Sunday site. This popular annual event, held on the Sunday (February 5) before Georgia Day (February 12), allows visitors and residents alike to experience our state’s rich history and cultural life. In the month of October, GHS will highlight Super Museum Sunday sites that help illustrate this month’s Festival theme of “Opening the Archives: Telling the Stories of Innovation.”
This week’s Super Museum Sunday Spotlight highlights the Georgia Historical Society Research Center, where visitors can explore GHS collections and exhibit space! Home to over 4 million manuscripts, 100,000 photographs, 30,000 architectural drawings, and more, the GHS Research Center offers visitors a look into the largest collection on Georgia history anywhere in the world! Learn more about the Georgia Historical Society Research Center before your visit by watching this video, and discover the history of Georgia at the GHS Research Center for FREE on February 5, 2016 as part of Super Museum Sunday!
Check back in January for a full list of participating sites!
