This week’s SMS Spotlight shines a light on the Arthur J. Moore Methodist Museum. The Arthur J. Moore Methodist Museum is located on the grounds of Epworth By The Sea, a Christian retreat center founded by Bishop Arthur Moore on St. Simons Island. The Museum started in 1966 as a small library with books from the Bishop’s personal collection. Over the years, the Museum has grown to include a large collection of historical artifacts related to Methodism and the founders of Methodism, John and Charles Wesley. The research library, consisting of over 6,000 volumes, attracts researchers and research requests from around the country.
Visit the Museum to learn about the origins of Methodism as well as the history of St. Simons Island!
The Moore Methodist Museum will be open to visitors on Super Museum Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Be sure to visit the Super Museum Sunday participant maps to view other participants in the Coastal Georgia area!
