Join us for Super Museum Sunday on February 7, 2016, featuring free admission to many museums and other cultural sites throughout Georgia!
The Arthur J. Moore Methodist Museum is located on the grounds of Epworth By The Sea, a Christian retreat center founded by Bishop Arthur Moore on St. Simons Island. The Museum started in 1966 as a small library with books from the Bishop’s personal collection. Over the years, the Museum has grown to include a large collection of historical artifacts related to Methodism and the founders of Methodism, John and Charles Wesley. The research library, consisting of over 6,000 volumes, attracts researchers and research request from around the country.
Visit the Museum to learn about the origins of Methodism as well as the history of St. Simons Island. View exhibits such as a collection of nativities from around the world and hear the Methodist historian Reverend Dave Hanson discuss John Wesley’s time on the island.
The Moore Methodist Museum will be open to visitors on Super Museum Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Visit their website to plan your visit.
